For Cryin' Out Loud
For Cryin' Out Loud was a College Station, Texas band formed when Bob Burrus and Chris Cessac — who had been writing songs together — started a band with Mike Thompson after he moved in as their roommate, debuting in November 1987 with an outdoor performance in front of Music Express. Known for their sharp satirical wit, nonsensical parody, and trash-rock energy, the band cited the Dead Milkmen, the Judys, Violent Femmes, and R.E.M. as influences, and released their second tape It's Rainin' Hepcats and Dogmas on Basilhead in 1989. They regularly performed at Brazos Landing, the Parthenon, Kay's Cabaret, and the Cow Hop, and were fixtures at local benefit shows around the Bryan–College Station area.
