About

Houston Music Archive is a catalog of bands from Houston, Texas - primarily from the 1980s and 1990s, but we're not strict about it. If a band was part of the Houston scene, was in the "rock" genre, and lasted for a couple of years and played shows... we want to document them.

The goal is simple: preserve the history of Houston's local music before it disappears. A lot of these bands never had a Wikipedia page or an AllMusic entry. Some of them only exist in flyers, demo tapes, and the memories of the people who were there. This is an attempt to keep that stuff in one place.

Note: Where possible, we try to link to the bands' Spotify/Bandcamp/Soundcloud/etc directly to listen to their music. However, we might embed our own mp3s for those that don't. If you're in a band where we uploaded an mp3 and you don't want that, let us know and we'll take it down.
