The Flamin' Hellcats are a rockabilly trio originally started in 1992 in Lubbock, Texas, now long based in Houston. The band prefers the swagger of swinging eighth notes and walking basslines, clean vocals and twangy guitars, paying homage to proto-rockers like Bill Haley and Carl Perkins with an ethos born of punk. They describe their sound as "101% Texas Vato-Billy" — about 200 proof rock and roll. The band has remained active for decades, still playing Houston venues into the 2020s.
