D.R.U.M. (Divine Rhythm United Motion) was founded in 1988 by Alaafia Ifalade as an African percussion ensemble in Houston, Texas. The band grew into a world beat/reggae group with touches of rock with the addition of electric bass, guitar, trap drums, and keyboards in 1990. Arguably the world music band in Houston, the group — whose members were born in different countries — has won multiple "Best World Music" awards from local publications and performed at festivals including iFest. The band tailors setlists to specific venues and audiences with shows incorporating drum and dance solos.
