Deep Ella
1996–present
Founded in Houston by singer-songwriter Jeff Crowder, Deep Ella blends alternative rock with progressive and art rock influences, built around meaningful lyrics and organic melodies. Their debut album Last Year's New Thing arrived in 2002, followed by EPs Fault Lines (2004) and The Marian Year (2005).
Their sophomore full-length Empty Seas and Memories (2007), recorded at the band's Helberg House studio, earned them a "Best Rock/Pop Act in Houston" nod from Houston Chronicle readers. Their third album You. Me. & the Spider (2010) was produced by Matt Noveskey of Blue October.
Deep Ella have supported national acts including Blue October, Civil Twilight, Bob Schneider, and Paper Tongues, and were selected as finalists for the American Talent Hunters reality TV competition. The band remains active in Houston, playing White Oak Music Hall in 2025.
