Blueprint

1991–late 1990s

emo indie rock

Blueprint was a Houston emo band active throughout the 1990s, central to the city's early emo scene. They played regularly at The Abyss, Fitzgerald's, and Catal Huyuk, sharing bills with Jawbreaker, The Promise Ring, Face to Face, Samiam, and The Offspring. Their track "Duster" was called the "proudest moment" of the Fuzzgun Records compilation Nothing Is Cool (1995). In 1996 they released a split 7-inch with Jimmy Eat World on Abridged Records, featuring their track "In-Between Angels" — one of the few Houston emo bands to gain national attention in the scene. Blueprint was also one of the very few emo bands to record a BBC John Peel Session. Members Damon Allen and Shane Ray went on to form Celindine. The band reunited for shows in 2011 and later years.
