Billy Joe Shaver was a country singer-songwriter from Corsicana, Texas. One of the most revered songwriters in outlaw country, he wrote nearly the entire Waylon Jennings album Honky Tonk Heroes (1973). His raw, plainspoken songs about hard living made him a legend in Texas music.
