Bickley
1995–2001
Houston pop-punk trio named after Robert De Niro's character in Taxi Driver (Travis Bickle). Formed in 1995, Bickley drew influence from The Vindictives, The Queers, and Screeching Weasel, delivering short, fast, loud punk songs with a sense of humor.
Their first full-length, Pogo Au Go-Go, was self-released on PaperDoll Records in 1996. By 1998, the band had been picked up by Fearless Records, who re-released Pogo Au Go-Go and put out their second album Kiss the Bunny that same year. The core lineup of singer Ben Fondled, guitarist Uncle Dig, and drummer Dave Wreckoning remained constant from the Fearless years onward.
In 2001, at the peak of their popularity, Bickley split up, citing the need for personal time with their respective families. The band has reunited periodically since August 2001 for special benefit and reunion shows.
